Paint Shop Pro 8 9 X XI X2 +
Note Your choice of Font Size is determined by the canvas’s dimensions; Image Resolution - and the type of Font; given these can differ between Paint Shop Pro versions, it is important to experiment with different (Font) Sizes.
After clicking OK or Apply, you are ready for the next step.
Tip To reposition your text; from the Tools Toolbar, activate the Mover/Move Tool.

Then hover your cursor over the outside of the text; and when you see the following crossed arrows.
Left-click and drag your text to the centre of the canvas.
3/ Now, from the top menu, choose Selections then from the drop-down menu, choose Invert. (Paint Shop Pro 8 9 X XI X2 + - Click OK if you see an Auto Action box). Both the text and the outer border will then be surrounded by a Selection Marquee.
4/ From the top menu, choose Effects then choose 3D Effects then choose Chisel. Enter the following settings into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK.
5/ From the top menu, choose Selections then choose Invert. The Selection Marquee will again isolate just the text - as illustrated below.
6/ From the top menu:
Paint Shop Pro 7 Choose Colours then choose Adjust then choose Brightness/Contrast. Enter the following attributes into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK. Brightness 30 - Contrast 0.
Paint Shop Pro 8 9 X XI X2 + Choose Adjust then choose Brightness and Contrast then choose Brightness/Contrast. Enter the following attribute into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK.
7/ Now, from the top menu, choose Effects then choose Artistic Effects then choose Hot Wax Coating. This darkens your text, as illustrated below.
Important When applying the Hot Wax Coating filter (in this manner) ensure the Foreground is set to Null.

8/ To lighten your text; apply the Brightness and Contrast filter again, just as you did back in Chapter 6. Either retain the previous Brightness and Contrast settings - or for personal results - experiment. (I retained the previous settings).
9/ Now, from the top menu, choose Selections then choose Promote (Selection) to Layer.
10/ Then from the top menu:
Paint Shop Pro 7 Choose Colours then choose Adjust then choose Red/Green/Blue. Enter the following settings into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK. Red 75%, Green 38%, Blue 0%.
Paint Shop Pro 8 9 X XI X2 + Choose Adjust then choose (Paint Shop Pro 8 9) Colour Balance - Paint Shop Pro X XI X2 + Colour. Then choose Red/Green/Blue. Enter the following settings into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK. Red 75%, Green 38%, Blue 0%.
All Versions Pressing Shift then U displays the Red/Green/Blue dialogue box.
Note All versions: The Red Channel determines the gold’s warmth; a lower value produces a cooler gold, and a higher value creates a warmer (redder) gold.
Your text will now have a golden hue - as illustrated below.
11/ From the top menu:
Paint Shop Pro 7 Choose Colours then choose Adjust then choose Gamma Correction. Enter the following settings into the subsequent dialogue box, (or experiment), then click OK. Red 66, Green 66, Blue 66.
Paint Shop Pro 8 9 Choose Adjust then choose Brightness and Contrast then choose Gamma Correction. Enter the following values into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK. Red 0.40, Green 0.40, Blue 0.40 - or experiment.
Paint Shop Pro X XI X2 + (This is instead of Gamma Correction) Choose Adjust then choose Brightness and Contrast then choose Curves. Click the following points along the curve, and gently tug them to create the following curve - then click OK.
12/ From the top menu, choose Effects then choose 3D Effects then choose Drop Shadow. Enter the settings of your choice into the subsequent dialogue box, then click OK.
Tip For All Versions Experiment with the Adjustment Curve to create a rich gold to your liking. Paint Shop Pro 7 - Colours, Adjust then Curves. Paint Pro 8 9 X XI X2 - Adjust then Brightness And Contrast then Curves.
13/ Cut and Paste your selected text onto a different background, if you wish.
14/ And for extra clarity, apply a Sharpening Filter: Effects/Adjust then Sharpen/Sharpness then save your work.
